Video: Kids Asked If Woman Could Be Santa = Cringeworthy Results

can Santa be a woman video

A marketing company called Anomaly asked a group of kids if a woman could do Santa’s job, and their answers were videotaped. Sounds adorable, right? But instead of the responses being cute, they may actually make you cringe.

"No," several children answer simply when presented with the question.

"For one, she would get lost in the sky," one little boy says.

A little girl says a woman would have a baby and be too consumed by giving it milk to deliver presents.

"It would be too heavy for a lady," suggests another boy, referring (we think) to the many presents Santa has to deliver.

"I reckon she would get a headache," says one child.

On the more positive side, a few of the children seemed to think a female Santa would work out just fine. "I think she would be better about bossing around the elves," notes one boy, while another child points out a woman might have an easier time fitting down the chimney.

Then, finally: "Girls aren't any different than boys," says one little boy, proving some parents are sending the right messages to their kids.

The video ends by suggesting that parents ask their children if a woman could be Santa. Which I plan to do when mine get home from school. And they'd better say "yes" or else I'll know I have more work to do to show them women can do anything men can do, even navigate a sleigh through the darkness of night to delivery millions of presents to children around the world. (By the way, St. Nick, I'm free Christmas Eve if you need a fill-in.)
