Eat These 3 Delicious Foods (every day!) for Optimum Health

by Dr. Steven Gundry

How many times have you jumped on your computer to research better health and read that you need to cut out certain foods?

Honestly, every article seems to start or end with the words, “don’t” and “eat.” For example, don’t eat …

  • Sugar
  • Carbs
  • Fats
  • Meat

Well today, let’s stay away from what they say you can’t eat and talk all about what you can (and should) eat!

In reality, it’s all about what you add to your diet. And you should absolutely add these three things to your plate … every day.

EAT THESE 3 DELICIOUS FOODS EVERY DAY

1. A SQUARE OF EXTRA DARK CHOCOLATE (85% OR BETTER)

Just for fun, let’s start with dessert. And what better dessert to discuss than chocolate. You might be asking yourself if you’re eyes are working, but yes, you’re reading the right words: Eat a 1 oz. square of extra dark chocolate every single day.

When your body hits that afternoon lull, and you’re looking for a snack – give chocolate a go. Or, if you’ve finished dinner and have a bit of a sweet tooth, there’s no harm in breaking off a square of extra dark chocolate.

Chocolate is a luxury and an indulgence. And you should let yourself indulge – every day. Believe it or not, you’ll actually be working toward improving your health. You see, chocolate is full of anti-inflammatory antioxidants and polyphenols.1 But, be careful to get the right kind of dark chocolate – it must contain at least 72% cacao … or more.

  1. AVOCADO

Buttery, hearty, and delicious – avocados are real health powerhouses. That’s why you should eat an avocado every day, if you want.

First of all, avocados are full of really helpful fatty acids. And these fatty acids can actually help your skin’s natural oil barrier stay resilient. But, the avocado also possesses significant amounts of lutein and zeaxanthin – and those compounds might just help to protect your skin from sun damage too.2

Also, did you know the avocado has about 10 grams of fiber in every cup? Also, avocados contain vitamin E and potassium.

Not only that, but the good fats in avocados might help you maintain a healthy weight and strengthen your body so it can fight against certain heart health concerns.3

3. WALNUTS, PISTACHIOS, OR MACADAMIAS

Warning: Not every nut is good for you. In fact, some nuts are actually seeds or legumes. And many seeds are full of lectins. For instance, cashews are seeds. And peanuts are lectin-filled legumes. So, when grabbing a snack, consider instead –

  • Walnuts
  • Pistachios
  • Macadamia Nuts

Turns out, these nuts can work wonders in terms of promoting your health. Nuts might even reduce your chances of gallstones, or help to defend your body against diabetes. Nuts could also help regulate your blood pressure levels and protect your system against inflammation.4

So, choose your nuts well, and remember: You can eat walnuts, pistachios, and macadamia nuts every day.

That’s a Wrap!

The next time you go to the grocery store, don’t head to the checkout line until you’ve got some super dark chocolate, avocados, and walnuts, pistachios, or macadamia nuts in your basket.
Make sure you consume these healthy, yummy foods every day.

You’ll be so much happier adding delicious foods to your diet, rather than simply subtracting the foods you like. And your body will be happy you’re feeding it what it wants.
