4 Ways to Combat Burnout in 2022

by

We’re approaching that time of year when everyone is just, well, tired. Burnout is a common problem in today’s overworked, hustle-focused society and we often ignore the signs and signals until it’s too late.

But if you’re starting to feel yourself losing focus, motivation and even hope for your year, there are a few things you can do to set yourself straight before you reach full-on burnout, give up, start feeling ill and slacking off. Keeping yourself on the right path all year long can be tough – but keep reading to find some tips to straighten up before the year comes to a close.

Plan Something Fun

When all we do is work, work, work, it’s easy to become a little disenchanted with what life has to offer and start wondering what the point of it all is. If you’re feeling bored and lifeless, try to think about what you have to look forward to.

Plan a vacation or even a small getaway with your family, friends or partner for the end of the year – something to get excited about and to work towards. Look around online for Christmas party ideas if you’re interested in throwing a bash, or if you’ll be hosting your family for Christmas dinner. Any other fun year-end activities that come to mind will work well too.

Set New Goals

Setting new personal goals, career goals or financial goals doesn’t have to be reserved for January, Mondays or any other specific time. Setting goals wherever you are in life, on any day of the week can be a great way to refocus and set your priorities straight.

What do you want to accomplish before the year is out? How much money do you want to save or weight do you want to lose? Perhaps you want to set a new running record, test a few new recipes, make a new friend, or take the next step in your relationship. Whatever your goals might be, make a list and get ready to start working on them.

Focus On Your Health

The simple act of caring for your body can be extremely powerful in making you feel better mentally too. Challenge yourself to spend the last few months of 2022 really focusing on you and your health.

Add more fruits and veggies into your diet, prioritise your sleep hygiene, and buy a new water bottle to encourage your H2O intake. Decide on a weekly workout routine and stick to it and start meditating or stretching in the mornings – whatever you think you might need, do it.

Take a Break

Sometimes the only solution is to find a way to take a break. This could be a serious break – some time off work, a vacation with your partner, or a much-needed solo trip.

If you don’t have the time or money for that, you could take smaller, simpler breaks that can be just as effective as a week on the beach. Take a weekend to shut off your devices, go for a walk in nature, or spend a Friday night watching your favourite movie.
